Name: Dorothy Girling
Joined Company: 1963
Profile: Dorothy, along with her husband Stanley, were early members of the society.
In a 1960's programme, Dorothy was described as an accomplished all-rounder. She originally came from Ipswitch, in Suffolk, where she founded the Westbrook Players. Moving first to Letchworth and then the Midlands, she and Stanley, arrived in Hollywood in the early 1960's. She played several leading parts for Wythall earning unstinted praise from the Press.
Dorothy had a great deal of producer's experience but her main interest was acting and with a strong leaning towards serious drama rather than comedy. Dorothy's other main hobbies were listed as gardening and listening to music - but acting must have taken most of her time.
The photograph featured shows Dorothy dressed as Mrs Northrop in "When We are Married," 1967. |
