Name: Marcus Bridger
Joined Company: 2002
Profile: Marcus officially joined Wythall Theatre Company in 2002 as assistant stage manager and properties gofer! The Company were so warm and friendly that he has ended up coming back time and time again.
Marcus says "I have since prompted for 'Silly Cow' and stage-managed for 'Neville's Island'. Both of the plays I enjoyed greatly and were brilliantly acted and directed. Prompting was a good experience for me and I realise that it is not a job for the faint hearted! Neville's Island was a fantastic play and the set of ex-Christmas trees was very effective. It was, however, noted that I did get rather carried away with the smoke machine!"
"I am also a member of Redditch Operatic Society and have enjoyed being a member of the chorus of many shows... I can't sing but can add some ballast to the sound! In 2004 I was sound technician for '42nd Street' a very nail biting experience! I have been fortunate to have had a few cameo parts in shows such as Kiss Me Kate (my favourite) and Me and My Girl. In 2005 I played a small part in Knowle Operatic's 'Scarlet Pimpernel' and 'Titanic' which I very much enjoyed."
"I enjoy updating and researching information for this site and would like to thank the Society for all their support in this task. It is rather like a detective story and putting all the pieces together has been very interesting."
"Wythall Theatre Company are a friendly bunch of people who make you feel welcome the moment you arrive. I would like to thank all the members for the opportunities and enjoyment they have given me."
Marcus' first acting role for Wythall was in Blue Remembered Hills (May 2006) when he played the stuttering Raymond. In 2007 he played the part of Albany in "The Dresser". His hilarious portrayal of 'Bobby' in "Run for Your Wife" (Novemeber 2008) is one that will be remembered (mainly due to the costume)!
Marcus recently directed the wonderfully written "Steel Magnolias" (May 2009) and was very proud of his wonderful cast and crew in making the show such an outstanding success.
Marcus was elected Chairperson of the Company in 2008 and says he feels proud to lead such a fantastic Company. |
