Profile: Sue married in 2005 and is now Sue George but for the purpose of this site she retains her previous surname.
Sue made her debut as Daphne Pink in Sailor Beware, and she followed this with many, many, many roles for the company including: Myra Bruhl in Death Trap, Shelby in Steel Magnolias, Mrs Lovett in Sweeny Todd, Jane Fuller in One for the Road, Doris in Silly Cow to name but a few.
We all know what a star Sue is but her appearance in The Opposite Sex in 2000 gained her a real compliment from the adjudicator's report:
"Judith: A very well presented character with a most effective vocal delivery. Lovely sense of unintelligence accompanied with petulance. Very good timing of comic lines. Appearance in the supper party scene particularly appropriate in the print dress."
Sue made her first studio appearance in The Maintenance Man as Diana. Sue is a very versatile actress being able to play farce (Kindly Keep it Covered), drunk (Silly Cow), poignancy (Memory of Water) and wickedly comical (A Chorus of Disapproval).
In 2006 Sue played the part of Lady Windermere in Lord Arthur Savile's Crime. Her fantastic comic timing was put to good use and the fact that she was able to wear lovely dresses pleased Sue greatly. So now Sue can add a period role to her long list of credits!
Sue's most recent performances for Wythall was as Clara Swettenham in our fantastic production of 'A Murder is Announced' (November 2007) and as M'Lynn in 'Steel Magnolias'. Sue's performance was moving and amazing which she recieved a great deal of critical acclaim:
"MLynn’s heart rending speech about the unfairness of life. Sue Lister’s portrayal of a bereaved mother was one of the most vivid performances I have ever seen in theatre. The cast and the audience were right there with her, and only after did you realise you were crying." |
