Name: Ted Rodgers
Joined Company: 1986
Profile: Ted has been a very supportive member of the society. In 2004 Ted had a mile stone birthday (not his 21st!) but we wont rub it in!
Coming to us from the Match Theatre Company, he recreated his production of Dennis and the Donkey for WTC. Ted has also appeared as a very glamourous Lady Macbeth in the Farndale Macbeth, Tony in Abigail's Party and as the chairman in our Old Time Music Hall.
He has also played the part of a henpecked husband, in Sailor Beware and Mr Lawson in Not Now Darling and as Bill in Straight and Narrow.
Ted is known for his farce! In 2000 the adjudicator said this about his performance in Opposite Sex:
"Depite a faulty memory, the character was convincingly boorish with well sustained energy and effective signalling of thought processes with facial gesture and good comic timing."
Ted has been the society treasurer for many years now and we appreciate all his hard work in this area (mainly because no one else would want to do it!!).
Ted specialises in farce and comedy as an actor and director. Ted directed the excellent Shut Your Eyes and Think of England! (2004). In 2006 Ted sucessfully directed the period comedy Lord Arthur Savile's Crime. This production was triumph and was particularly important to the Company because of the return to the newly refurbished Palace Theatre.
One thing is always certain... it is always a fun production and with Ted at the helm - laughs are guaranteed!
Ted's most recent role for the Company was as 2nd Lieutenant Trotter in our 2008 production of 'Journey's End'.
