Bernal is listed under publicity in the 1965 programme for “The Shop at Sly Corner”.
The programme says that Bernal was Londoner working in the Midlands for newspaper publishers. He dreaded ever having to appear on stage with an audience staring at him. He felt that were he to do so, some major calamity – such as his braces snapping – would occur immediately the curtain went up!
Professionally, he was described as a techical journalist and author. His interest included foreign trave, meeting people (and getting well away from them from time to time), listening to church organ music, watching dawn break at sea and enjoying the scent of wet earth in a Scottish glen.
