John Parkes
John joined us in 1989 and has become part of the furniture of the society! His enthusiasm and ideas have aided many productions. John always gives so much time to the practical aspects of the play and is much appreciated for this.
His versatility has been seen so many times on the stage for WTC. Some of his best roles were in Chorus of Disapproval, Confusions, Cash on Delivery, Not Now Darling, Season’s Greetings, Death Trap, House Guest, Deadly Nightcap… and the list goes on.
He really did enjoy his part in Silly Cow because it meant he could have a little sleep on stage. The cast were worried whether he would wake up again but sure to form – with big booming voice he did!
In 2006 John played the part of The Dean of Paddington in Lord Arthur Savile’s Crime. Once again he proved himself as a wonderful comic actor with perfect timing.
John’s most recent portrayal was of the Duke of Glouster in the 2007 production of ‘The Dresser’. John also co-directed our fabulous production of ‘Journey’s End’ in 2008.
John was the Company’s President from 2005 to 2008. He was also the Chairperson of the society (1995 to 1997).
Sadly our dear friend John passed away in November 2015. He was a real gentleman and will be greatly missed by all his Wythall Theatre Company family.
