Jonathan Prior
Jonathan’s debut for Wythall was in House Guest, playing ‘heavy’ Sergeant Clayton. ‘I forgot to take a gun on during one performance’ he chuckled, ‘with which I was supposed to strike one of the cast. However, I improvised and substituted a marble based lighter. The look of genuine fear on the victim’s face provided the realism. – I think!’ Jonathan’s only previous acting role had been an angel in a school nativity play. He describes acting as a “real escape”.
He has shown his ability to handle a wide range of roles. Appearances as Clive in Season’s Greetings and Albert Tufnell R.N. in Sailor Beware were followed by his superbly chilling performance in the title role of Sweeny Todd. The part of Clive showed that Jonathan could play the part of a seducer as well as a villain.
The papers said that “Prior is perfect as Cockney charmer” when he portrayed Alfie in 1993. They also said that he had a “commanding performance …” in Alfie and certainly the press photograph showed him surrounded by a collection of beautiful ladies.
