Production Reviews

A Play with Power and Polish

Francis Durbridge’s tense thriller was superbly portrayed by Wythall Theatre Company – forcing the audience to the edge of their seats for most of the performance. Played as every production should be, powerfully and confidently without a single word out of place, this was as polished a performance as you could ever wish to see, even in the professional theatre.

Never wanting for action, never wanting anything extra, director Mike Beamish squeezed every last drop from his talented cast.

Not a mystery, since the audience were fully aware of whodunit, the plot raced along frantically to the gunshot at the end that saw the curtain fall.

Of one thing we were never sure, and that was how this supposed perfect crime was to end. Just a gut feeling that the fiend would meet his come uppance.

That he did, waking the audience up from their suspense in no uncertain terms. What a lovely production.
