Tony Lacey
Tony joined the Company in 1994.
Tony says “Having been an admirer of the company for many years, I tried my luck with them and was lucky enough to land a brilliant role in Death Trap. You would think that the fact I got shot, wrapped in a carpet, buried and hit with a crossbow may have been a hint to go, but I stayed and enjoyed acting in Confusions and Rose and directing One for the Road.”
“After a few years away I returned and have stayed ever since. I directed Blood Money and Silly Cow, and have appeared in Straight and Narrow, A Chorus of Disapproval, Lucky Sods, Neville’s Island and Blue Remembered Hills.”
“I was on the committee for a while, and am especially pleased that this is a company where everyone is welcomed and friendly, and everyone has the chance to take part in any capacity they wish, be it acting, directing, backstage or front of house.”
“The company maintain very high standards and vary their repertoire greatly. I particularly enjoy serious plays and dark comedies, and personally find farces unfunny.”
“Audience figures prove I am in a minority! I shuffle my WTC activity with my work as a head teacher and my participation in local operatic societies.”
More recently Tony appearance for Wythall was for his acclaimed portrayal of Norman in the 2007 production of ‘The Dresser’. He also played the delightful Hugo in ‘The Vicar of Dibley’ in 2015.
Tony directed the November 2007 production of ‘A Murder is Announced’ and ‘Flint Street Nativity’ (Nov 2010). Both excellent productions to remember with excellent ticket sales.
Tony was Chairperson from 2005 to 2008. The Company enjoyed Tony’s contribution to the development of WTC during those years. Tony has stepped in to by the Chairperson from March 2013.
